Yesterday was my last day of actually classes for the semester. Woohoo! Things are looking well for getting another 4.0 semester unless I just epically bomb both of my finals. While I enjoyed my classes for the most part this semester, I’m just glad it is finally over. All the personal crap that happened at the beginning and through out the semester just kinda burned me out early on and I just did not want to deal with school anymore which is why I’m surprised I managed to pull out a 4.0 (or will do so).
Usually the end of the school year means I put my camera in storage and do no touch it again until the Fall. Having no desire to be an actual photographer made it easy to do this. However, with my new passion for my series and dreams of being a fine art photographer along with my business, I am actually going to break out of my box a bit. I have several ideas still floating around in my head and a few on paper so I do not forget them. I never got around to them because they would take a lot of planning and time that I could not give them with classes, homework, and eventually, work. However, the summer has only work and the occasional trip back home laid out which means lots of free time to do whatever with. Sounds like an excellent chance to pump out some more material before August if my fellow peers will let me borrow some of their lenses.
Why am I so fired up to do some shooting this summer before the Fall Semester? Well, for one, I am really enjoying what I am doing finally. Before, all my assignments had been stuff I did because I had to. For the first time during my school career, I am shooting because I want to shoot and I like what I am shooting. It is an amazing feeling! Secondly, I am doing Mid Program this fall. I know I originally planned on doing it this past semester and bailed out but this time I am serious about doing it. I am also glad I waited. Most of my work this semester that has inspired me would have not been in my portfolio just because of the time limits and due date of Mid Program. I feel like I actually have a strong body of work to bring before my teachers this fall (as seen by me winning 3rd in portfolio during Expo) and I think it will only get better and stronger this summer.
So, unlike my fellow peers who have barely used their weblogs and will no doubt not touch them again until Jerry makes them, I hope to continue to post and update you all that have been amazing enough to keep up with what I am doing.
Here’s to an awesome week of finals and a kick ass summer of shooting!!!
