All Good Things Must Come To An End

All good things must come to an end…I wrote those exact words almost a year ago after the break up with a long time significant other. Funny that how a year, after all the hurt has been healed and my new path in life is going great, that I utter those words again.

As my blog history shows, it has also been over a year since I have posted on here. Graduate school and  teaching has proved the worse enemy for this weblog. Well, and using my Facebook fan page as my new main form of portfolio showing. And the fact that I have completely rebranded myself. I guses a lot of things played into the fact that this blog is not longer what I need or use.

With a heavy heart I say goodbye officially. There shall be no more new posts and in fact, some of the old stuff shall be removed since I won’t be tracking it any more with the overall goal being to delete this blog eventually. Thank you to everyone who kept track of my work through all these years. If you wish to continue to see what Tara is up to photography wise, please check out my Facebook Fan Page

Silver Maple Photo Shoot with New Gear

On Wednesday, I shot a few more pieces of jewelry for The Silver Maple. What made this photo shoot more exciting that the last couple of shoots is the fact that this shoot was with all my new gear: the Canon 7D and the Canon 100mm Macro lens.

Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L IS Macro Lens

My new lens came in the mail on Thursday and I was super excited to test it out. Due to the new camera not arriving until next week, I got the macro lens to work with me and tested it out on one of the Canon 7D at school. I can already tell that I will never regret this purchase…

Looking forward to some real photo shoots with this lens very soon!

An Upgrade Coming Soon!

After over 4 years of shooting with my Canon Rebel XT (Xavier), I am finally upgrading to a nicer camera: the Canon EOS 7D!

Also, while I was throwing money around buying new gear, I also bought the new Canon EF 100mm IS USM Macro!

Should be getting all my stuff within the next two or three weeks. Regardless, my excitement currently knows no end…

The Silver Maple

Back in March, amidst all the craziness that is graduate school, I was offered a shooting opportunity by cousin of mine, Jacque Eidson. She was starting her own jewelry business, The Silver Maple, and was needing some images of her product to display on the website that was in the process of being built.

While I almost turned the job since I was so busy but I’ve been very thankful that I had not because it was been a wonderful learning opportunity for me to continue to enhance not only my product portfolio, but also my skills as a jewelry photographer.

A good side effect of my project of working with Jacque has been all the ‘free’ advertising I have received as a result. I am mentioned as the photographer on her website and she has been busy advertising all over the country (literally) and thus sending my photography all over as well!

Here is a few of the Blogs and Websites that my photographic images of her jewelry has been found (that I know of):

The Undomestic Momma

Endurance Isn’t Only Physical

Colorado Runner

The Wedding Bee

Supposedly there is a few magazines ads in the works and I will make sure to come and update once I know which magazines they can be found in.

It has been a project I have very much enjoyed and look forward to continuing to be The Silver Maple’s photographer!
